What is a Home Care Package?
A Home Care Package supports you to live interdependently in your later years. It assists you to stay independent in your own home and extends quality of life by providing support services tailored to your needs.
What Services are provided in a Home Care Package?
The types of services provided in a Home Care Package depend on your unique needs, for example:
Domestic Support Services
- Contract cleaning services
- Gardening services includes weeding, mowing, edging, trimming.
Tip services are an additional fee as per local Council rate - Basic home maintenance
- Home modifications related to care needs
Personal Care Services
- Showering, dressing and mobility
- Personal care
- Shopping
- Cleaning and laundry services
- Transport
- Escort to appointments
Care Management and Package Management
Support to develop a care plan that will meet your needs and assistance to set up and manage the services you will require to meet those needs.
Nursing, allied health and other clinical services
- Clinical Care from an Enrolled or Enrolled Endorsed Nurse, such as assistance with medication, simple wound care, nutritional assistance
- Clinical Care from a Registered Nurse, such as wound care, medication administration, clinical assessment, continence assessment, cognitive assessment, care review
- Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, such as initial assessment, ongoing treatment plan, reports on progress, goal setting, environment changes.

All our Home Care coordination and services are carried out by qualified clinical staff.
We understand that navigating the complex arrangements that come with a Home Care Package can be quite daunting. That’s where our expertise can help provide clarity and our advice can help you make the decisions that are best for you.
There is no wait-list and no basic daily fee for Star Health Home Care Packages. We can also help you access Star Health dental services, GP, physiotherapy, psychology, podiatry, occupational therapy, dietitians, and more.
What level of care am I eligible to receive?
The Home Care Package level you are eligible for is determined by My Aged Care. There are four levels of Home Care Packages funded by the Australian Government.
At Star Health, we provide all four levels of Home Care Packages:
Level 1 Basic Care Needs
This package is designed to support those who need basic levels of support, usually with everyday tasks. This level of package is ideal for preventing premature and unnecessary admission into residential aged care.
The Australian Government will pay a yearly amount up to the approximate* value of $10,242.96
Level 2 Low-level care needs
This package is designed to support those who need low levels of support. A level 2 recipient may be eligible to enter residential aged care but would prefer to continue living at home.
The Australian Government will pay a yearly amount up to the approximate* value of $18,014.36
Level 3 Intermediate care needs
This package is designed to support those who need intermediate levels of support. A level 3 recipient is more than likely eligible to enter residential aged care but would prefer to continue living at home. This level is also suited to people who require nursing care in their own home.
The Australian Government will pay a yearly amount up to the approximate* value of $39,202.80
Level 4 High-level care needs
This package is designed to support those who need the highest level of support. Level 4 recipients are eligible to enter residential aged care but would prefer to continue living at home. This level is suitable for people with complex care needs.
The Australian Government will pay a yearly amount up to the approximate* value of $59,430.28
* Figures are rounded. The maximum government contribution increases yearly. The individual amount that will be paid will depend on whether you are asked to pay an income-tested care fee.
