Media Release: Commitment to Expand Star Health’s Prahran Site
Star Health welcomes the announcement that a Federal Labor Government will invest $4 million in a new Star Health mental health community hub in Prahran.
The announcement was made today by Labor Leader in the Senate, the Hon Penny Wong, at Star Health’s Prahran site.
Star Health Board President Judith Klepner said “It is fantastic to see commitment to early intervention and care in the community setting, where it will have the most impact.
“This will not only enable us to keep more people well in the community and out of hospitals, but also reduce overall health spending in the long run.”
“This investment will enable Star Health to add two new floors of custom-built facilities to provide a greater number and range of joined-up, wrap-around services for everyone, all in one place.”
With over 40 years’ experience serving the inner south of Melbourne, Star Health has the local knowledge and connections to respond to the diverse and emerging health and wellbeing needs of the Prahran community and surrounding areas.
The investment will facilitate the expansion of Star Health’s comprehensive offering of wrap-around health and community services, including mental health, GP, dental, allied health, family violence, alcohol and other drugs, housing and aged care services.
With a total estimated project cost of around $5 million, Star Health has committed to making a financial contribution to the project. Star Health acknowledges that a Federal Labor Government is committed to working with Star Health to ensure that the project is fully funded in the first term of government, if elected.
